The village is located in South-Central Bulgaria. It is part of Smolyan Municipality. The municipality is situated in the Central Rodopi Mountains and occupies a territory of 879sq.km of which 67 % are covered by ancient coniferous forests. Smolyan is spread along Cherna river-banks, combining in itself modern buildings and the traditional architecture of Rhodopean style. The municipality is 90km away from Plovdiv and borders on Greece to the south and municipalities of Devin to the west, on Laki and Chepelare to the north and on Banite to the east. The relief is mountainous with average altitude of 1,230 m. The climate is cool summer and mild winter.
